Jerry’s journey didn’t begin at a jeweler’s bench, but as a young delivery boy navigating the historic heart of the jewelry trade. Watching the master artisans at work, he felt a pull toward the craft that he couldn’t ignore. By 1989, he transitioned from the sidelines to the workshop, beginning a rigorous apprenticeship as a jeweler. While he mastered the art of shaping precious metals, Jerry soon discovered his true calling: the art of the diamond setter. He found a deep, meditative precision in the way a stone is secured to catch the light, eventually dedicating himself entirely to the technical mastery of diamond setting. The name “Gilan” was born from a moment of quiet inspiration. During a lunch break early in his career, Jerry found himself captivated by a book describing Gilan, a lush and beautiful region in Iran. The name resonated with him so deeply that it became his north star. He made a silent promise to himself: one day, he would open his own boutique, and it would bear that name.

A New Chapter in Australia

In 2004, Jerry brought his expertise and his dream to Australia. He began his Sydney chapter in a modest office, working at the bench as a specialist diamond setter. His reputation for precision and passion grew, and that small workspace eventually evolved into the premier boutique it is today. What started as a young boy’s curiosity in Istanbul has become a cornerstone of luxury in Mosman. Today, Jerry is more than just a diamond setter; he is a shop owner who personally oversees the creation of every piece.
